The Immuno-HUB Project, launched on February 13, 2023 under the direction of Professor Marco Terreni at the University of Pavia, focuses on immunotherapy for the treatment and prevention of infectious and neoplastic diseases. Funded by the Italian Ministry of Health, its main goal is to establish a national platform capable of rapidly responding to emerging epidemiological challenges through the development of biopharmaceuticals specifically designed for immunotherapy.

The resources and expertise of the project partners will be integrated to create an optimized framework for managing future infectious and major diseases. The project also aims to develop innovative strategies for identifying biomarkers useful in epidemiological monitoring and in assessing the response to oncological therapies.

Researchers will focus on infectious diseases, such as SARS-CoV-2 and tuberculosis, as well as tumors including glioblastoma, liver carcinoma, and renal carcinoma, with the goal of identifying predictive markers of treatment response and mechanisms of resistance to immunotherapy.

In addition to developing new therapeutic approaches that enhance efficacy while reducing patient toxicity, the project aims to establish a platform capable of rapid response to new health emergencies through the development of advanced immunotherapies.

Project partners include:

  • University of Pavia
  • University of Rome “Tor Vergata”
  • University of Insubria
  • Fondazione I.R.C.C.S. Policlinico San Matteo
  • ASST Fatebenefratelli Sacco
  • Fondazione I.R.C.C.S. Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori
  • Scuola Normale Superiore

The project is funded by the Italian Ministry of Health as part of the Health Operational Plan – Trajectory 4, aimed at the creation of Life Sciences Hubs.
